I danced with the devil and I've got to say he's not so tough.

This blog focuses mostly on new songs less than a year old but an exception is being made for "Live from Hell" by Glowbug on the album Fantasma Del Tropico. It's an obscure alt-rock song with sounds of steel drums giving it that Caribbean island vibe. But that's not it. This song features Eddie Hermida, the screamo vocalist of the deathcore metal band, Suicide Silence. This is the first screamo song to be listed on this blog. "To all the heathens, demons...I have got a feeling we'd get along, so shout GIVE ME YOUR WORST...LOVE 'TIL IT HURTS!" This could very well be one of the softest screamo songs you've heard but it just works; it's catchy. The lyrics are pretty dark considering the island-enthused sounds too. "I DANCED WITH THE DEVIL AND I'VE GOT TO SAY he's not so tough." Of course a Caribbean-inspired song needs to be paired with a Caribbean-inspired beer. There may not be any year-round nationally-available beers to co...

We're dancing people.

"Purple Hat" by the EDM-rock duo, Sofi Tukker, is as beautiful as a lactose sour. "Purple hat, cheetah print, dancing on the people…rolled up at the after joint, dancing, dancing on the people…people dancing on the people. I got people on the people, people." Right away, this song gets as hype and weird as any alternative song can be but you can't help but dance. In a way, the song is like a sour beer. Sours are pretty weird but they are often fresh and full of flavor surprises. "Everybody in the booth, can tell myself apart from you, now that we're dancing people." Then you hear a beautiful voice to slow the song down making this new alternative hit enjoyable to listen to on repeat. That's the lactose of the song. No matter the style, lactose in beers really smooths them out and it's hard to just have one. "See me see you dancing on the people. Climb up on the booth, hanging from the people on the people. My head hits t...

There’s some new lines down on Grand Street.

Matt and Kim, 9:30 Club, Washington, DC Life is good and you're enjoying it! Matt and Kim comes out with yet another hype and energetic beat with good-feeling lyrics. "GO GO" is about a bittersweet life. Life is awesome but nothing will compete to what was 10 years ago. "Take a look around; Brooklyn’s changed…who are these stains? Buy another round; still feels good to be home. Hey." If you didn't know, Matt and Kim's album, Grand, came out 10 years ago in 2009. It was such a great (or GRAND) album, the duo is on tour right now to celebrate it. As far as you remember, it was a time of great experiences. You were happy to be there but you wish time didn't move forward. Not to worry…Matt and Kim is making more music to celebrate that timeframe. Just take a look at the lyrics! "Took a look around this old town feeling bittersweet. Buy another round. There’s some new lines down on Grand Street."  You need a bitter and sweet beer but...

When I found you, I found me.

You've been in a rut. You couldn't get out. You became something you didn't want until you found the one you love. Life starts to feel pretty awesome now. "Never been saved but I've never come closer. Another year down and another year older. A million fresh starts, what I needed was closure. Yeah, I lost who I was but I found my composure." Now that you found that new beer you love so much, anything seems possible. For many, a person's first sour is an incredible experience. They are all the buzz right now but not because they're new…because they're like nothing else. Firstly, many sour beers don't taste like beer at all. In fact, many taste like juice. But there is one sour type that stands out from the rest of the sours and that's a gose. In America, beers with the label "Gose" are usually just simply sour and refreshing. They are perfect for the summer. They have the taste of fruit but are usually not so juicy that they...

I've got the sweetest living recipe.

Listen to "Recipe" by Wild Party and you'll be reminded that life is good. The world is not perfect but you're happy with what you got and couldn't ask for more. People will try to tear you down but you don't care what they have to say. "Stop crumbling. Their words didn't matter. Oh well, just forget it, we know we're only going up." You're taking risks—risks that people do not agree with. But you know in order to succeed in life, you must be brave. Failure is an option because if you want want to be the best, you must learn from your actions. "Never gonna hit the breaks too slow—even if we make mistakes we know that all we got is all we have so no we're never gonna look back and think of how I run the worst sometimes." But you won't fail alone. Yes, the common person will judge you but no-one understands you like the people who love you. They will support you and as long as you have your friends and loved ones aro...

We're just known.

The Kardashians have taught us a thing or two about becoming famous. Not everyone cares why they're famous but sure are happy they are. In the Silversun Pickups' latest single, "It Doesn't Matter Why," a similar message is given. "You hear us come and go; we know. You wonder if we're not alone; we're alone. You think about us all the time; don't." The Silversun Pickups' have a loyal fan base. A fan base that potentially gets a little wild and is obsessed with their favorite band. For the most part, the band is happy they are as famous as they are but it does come at a cost. "You wanna read our minds; we know. Is it better on the other side? No. Will it help you sleep at night? It won't." In the music video , people seem to only care about themselves. In some ways, that's healthy. You should always try to improve on yourself. But there comes a moment when success becomes stress. "It doesn't matter why we...
